Mark Thompson is an Associate at Atkinson Vinden and has experience in commercial law predominately with a commercial property related background. Mark’s work at Atkinson Vinden consists mainly of Retirement Villages & Aged Care, this entails sales and acquisition of Retirement Villages and Aged Care facilities and reviewing legislative interpretations of both the Retirement and Aged Care legislation.
Mark has been heavily involved in overseeing and implementing the updating of all client retirement village documentation in light of the Retirement Villages Regulation 2017 which came into effect 1 September 2017.
Mark’s experience prior to joining Atkinson Vinden was in the Banking and Finance industry where he predominately worked on mortgagee recovery work, business banking lending, development banking lending and agricultural lending. Prior to that Mark worked for a boutique law firm in the United Kingdom where his practice consisted of sale and purchase of small businesses, liquor licensing and commercial property work.
Over the years Mark has handled numerous commercial transactions involving leasing, mortgage and construction finance transactions, sales/purchases of businesses and companies, dispute resolution of commercial matters, bankruptcy, insolvency, preparation of corporate documentation and due diligence relating to acquisition of mortgage portfolios.
Mark has particular interest and expertise in the Retirement Villages & Aged Care and general commercial work.
Mark is a keen Wallabies supporter and lives in hope they may one day beat the All Blacks.
